Residential
Elevators provide access to all levels of a home
There are three kinds of
home elevator owners. There are those home owners
who have a need for easier access now, those who are
considering future needs and those who see the value
and convenience of a home elevator regardless of
mobility issues. Steps are great for exercise but
not very convenient when you have a trunk full of
groceries and the garage and kitchen are on
different levels, or when you need to move bulky
items from floor to floor. In fact, stairs can be
down right dangerous in certain situations.
Residential
Elevators are not just for luxury homes
For many years most of
us believed a residential elevator was decadent, out
of reach, that only millionaires could or should
have one. We all just assumed we couldn’t afford an
elevator in our home, end of discussion, end of
dream. In reality a residential elevator can be as
low as the price of a midsize car and if you
consider the costs of building a dream home today, a
home elevator is right inline with a great media
room or some professional high quality kitchen
appliances. Remember when swimming pools were only
for the wealthy and everyone knew which house on the
block had one? It’s your turn; be the envy of the
neighborhood, be the first to own a residential
elevator.
Residential
Elevators are an easier and safer way to travel
Carrying a large or
awkward item up and down the stairs could result in
personal injury, damage to the home and/or to the
item. With today’s rising healthcare costs that
simple fall on the stairs could end up costing you
thousands of dollars which could have paid for the
elevator. Don’t forget those injuries that occur
outside of the home, we all have, at one point or
another suffered from a strained muscle, a sprained
ankle or worse; and were forced to either climb the
stairs one painful step at a time or just make do in
a downstairs room. The home elevator will allow the
homeowner to travel safely and comfortably from
floor to floor.
For a growing number of
individuals with hip or joint pain just walking can
be painful. While a one level home might eliminate
some issues (climbing stairs), walking from one end
of the home to the other can be a long and painful
journey. With a well designed home and a
strategically located elevator, the number of steps
required to get from room to room can be
dramatically reduced.
Residential
Elevators will increase the ability to sell your
home
The more accessible the
home, the more appealing it will be to a wider
variety of potential buyers. Many buyers walk away
from a home they may have really liked because they
are worried about their current or future mobility,
or worse they may never even get out of their cars
to tour it. If you can remove the accessibility
objection you will have increased the number of
potential buyers; this is especially significant
since a growing portion of the buying population is
approaching or are in their ‘golden years’. Beyond
the accessibility issue, many home buyers prefer the
architectural and design possibilities of multiple
stories with lofts, vaulted ceilings, etc. A
residential elevator is a memorable and desirable
feature that will help to separate and elevate a
home from it’s competitors.
Residential
Elevators can reduce your construction costs
Simply put, it is more
expensive to build outward than it is to build
upward. Foundation and roofing costs remain fairly
stable if you increase the square footage by adding
additional floors. For every square foot of living
space you build outward, you will be adding to the
roof and foundation costs. These cost savings could
be applied to the purchase of your residential
elevator.
